Meeting of the Local First Chicago organization. Introducing six more people I have met. Learn about these three small business experts I met via LinkedIn and conversed with via Skype as part of my quest to meet 100 New People in 50 Days through better networking. “If you had $1,000.00 to promote your health and beauty spa business, how would you spend it? This answer will be of particular interest to those in the health and beauty industry but is applicable to any local service providers looking to expand their business. The Internet is an important part of the marketing mix but when promoting a local business such as a spa I prefer to see efforts that include face-to-face marketing and building word of mouth. These efforts have the most direct and immediate impact. Entrepreneur Magazine asked me to comment on how much information a business person should share about a new venture. Designers today can take a tip from cards printed in the 19th and early 20th Century. These cards are full of information and presented in an artistic style that is simply lacking today in spite of our advanced technology. My message is simple. In this challenging economic climate, businesses that effectively promote themselves for the purpose of capturing their share of the limited opportunities available will be the businesses that survive and prosper.
